Green Cleaning Campaign

By | September 12th, 2017|Home|0 Comments

I'm super excited to announce that the Green Cleaning Life Hacks Campaign I have been working on with Roscommon County Council is going LIVE this week! This is what the filming was all about at the cottage a few months ago.  I was sworn to secrecy.  But the secrets's out now. As anyone who follows me knows I'm a bit of a wannabe 1950's housewife and love all the old ways of doing things, particularly keeping house.  So when Suzanne from the Environment Agency at Roscommon County Council asked me to be their Green Cleaning Ambassador for this campaign sure I was only delighted.  I got to spend time researching and trying out 'green cleaning' recipes and feature in mini tutorial videos too! Luckily [...]

Day 3 – 30 Days of Blogging – Breakfast

By | February 15th, 2017|Healthy|0 Comments

Up until recently breakfast was something I never engaged in , apart from weekends, and at that it was always more brunch than breakfast.   One of the first things I have been working on with Sarah (the dietician I have been seeing to help with my new healthy lifestyle) is to start eating breakfast.  It took two weeks for me to crack ... by crack I mean I now wake up hungry and really find it hard to skip breakfast! How did I do it?  Well there were a few ways. First of all was setting my table for breakfast the night before.  I am a very visual person so the way something looks is very important to me.  I like pretty [...]

Day 2 of 30 Days of Blogging – 30 days of Walking

By | February 14th, 2017|Healthy|0 Comments

As if one challenge (see previous blog post) wasn't enough I decide to do several at once! What can I say, maybe it's the Gemini in me. This challenge is (I should say 'was' as I've just completed it but for the purpose of my blog posting challenge I'm going back in time) 30 days of walking.  Despite being completed I'm not stopping there.  I'm going to keep on going as I just love it !! To help me on my way I created this printable that I've got posted up in my kitchen where I can cross off each day I've walked and the length of time I walked. I don't know what it is, maybe the psychology of putting a big X in [...]

New Year New Me

By | February 13th, 2017|Healthy|0 Comments

Big sigh as I type this because I've written and re-written this blog post a few times! I'm also salivating thinking of croissants after uploading that image :D So here goes - final time .... A few weeks ago I posted this on my personal Facebook page in a total knee jerk reaction to this video clip of Kate Winslet. I'll be honest I had no intention whatsoever of sharing this.  I often see things that I love or that drive me made on Facebook and type a reply but delete it, but this time I hit post.  My friend rang me a few seconds later, not knowing what I had done, and I was shaking!!  I really was.  I think that says a [...]

Day 1 – 30 Day Blogging Challenge

By | February 13th, 2017|Small Business|0 Comments

Hello lovelies I almost feel like I'm talking to myself here as it's been so long since I blogged!  For the past couple of years I have really struggled with blogging, finding the time to put into it but also the energy and passion I had when I started almost 10 years ago!  I really feel like I'm just on repeat and my blog has become more of a chore than something I used to really enjoy and have endless ideas for.  I have moved into the world of instant access/gratification via Facebook and Instagram which I find far more accessible, doable and quite frankly enjoyable.   However  I do miss my blog and feel that I am losing an awful lot of valuable content [...]

Painted PVC Door

By | November 7th, 2016|Home|0 Comments

Finally got round to re-painting my yucky front door.  One day I will have my dream stable door like one of these (check out my Pinterest for more) But for now I'm stuck with what I have so painting is the only option.    The ultimate aim is a lovely Christmas doorway.  I love this one! So back to painting .  Here's what I'm working with.  Your bog standard pvc door.  It took me ages to find pics as I don't tend to take any due to disliking the door so much but this is from a few years ago. Since then I painted it with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Imperial Red.   After researching on the internet the information I found suggested [...]

Networking – out of my comfort zone

By | October 6th, 2016|Uncategorized|1 Comment

For all my regular readers this is your advanced warning - This post is nothing to do with sewing, nothing to do with craft and there are no pics of coffee, fabric or my kitchen.  This post is about networking.  I hate to burst everyone's bubble but the reason I get to sew most days, post pictures of my latest makes and cups of coffee in pretty cups is because I became self employed doing what I love and working from home.  Despite what a lot of people think, going by my social media posts, I probably spend 70% of my time doing anything but sewing/creating.  When you are "in business" you have to wear umpteen hats.  My main business is running workshops from [...]
