This workshop is for you – in this popular workshop Michelle will have you stitching in no time and you will be leaving with bucket loads of ideas and enthusiasm, several completed projects and an envelope cushion cover all made by you!

Do you have a sewing machine but aren’t sure how to use it or are you thinking of buying a sewing machine but would like to “try before you buy” ? Or maybe you have a machine but only know the basics?
If so, this workshop is for you.
I will get you sewing in no time.
What will I learn at Sewing Machine Basics Intensive ?
You will learn how to set up your machine correctly
You will learn how to fill your bobbins and insert them correctly
You will learn how to thread your machine correctly
You will learn how to fix and manage tension issues
You will learn how to change your needles (different needles are needed for different fabrics)
You will learn tips and tricks on how to sew a straight and/or curved line of stitches
You will learn how to change stitches on your machine.
You will learn how to use the zipper foot, blind hem foot, embroidery/darning foot, button foot and buttonhole foot
What do I need to bring?
Please bring the manual for your sewing machine, 1/2 metre of fabric for a cushion cover , a zip and matching thread. (It’s also a good idea to bring a couple of spools of different colour threads and spare bobbins to practice loading them).
Apart from that nothing else is required other than bucket loads of enthusiasm :O) I have lots of different fabrics to use on the day also.
What will I take home?
You will take home lots of tips and tricks and buckets of ideas to get started sewing at home. We will also make an envelope cushion cover, a zippered bag and a number of smaller items.
Workshops at Michelle’s charming country cottage have often been described as “an idyllic retreat” and compared to “a day at the spa”. They are a delightful way to spend a few hours in a truly inspirational setting in rural Ireland. You will receive a warm welcome on arrival and expert tuition but at the same time actively encouraged to explore your own creativity. It’s hard not to feel creative in Michelle’s cottage where you are surrounded by her upcycled pieces of furniture and shelves filled with all sorts of sewing notions, spools of thread and crafty bits and pieces. Not only that but Michelle’s enthusiasm for all things crafty is highly infectious!
